Christians have been asking many questions about Muslims. Who are they and what do they believe? Does true Islam sanction violence? Most importantly, what attitude should Christians have toward Muslims?

It is important to understand that not all Muslims are terrorists. In fact, only a small number of them promote violence. Most are decent, peace-loving people.

Why do some Muslims use the Koran to justify violence while others condemn it? It is important to understand that Muslims practice their religion with varying degrees of faithfulness.

Some are quite secular in their outlook and way of life. They profess to be Muslims but do not faithfully practice their religion. They may not even know much about its teachings.

Other moderate Muslims believe Islam is just a religion and try to practice it faithfully. Most are peace loving and generally only use peaceful persuasion to make converts.

They are often embarrassed by acts of terrorism that are carried out in the name of Islam.
Fundamentalist Muslims, on the other hand, have a political as well as a religious agenda.

Although in the minority, they are the most vocal. They believe everyone should live in submission to Islamic law. They take the teaching of the Koran and Mohammed’s commands to fight for the cause of Allah literally and believe violence is justified for taking control of the world.

Therefore  it is easy for a Christian to look at Muslim as a violent people or Islam as a religion of War. Let see how Muslims view on Christian Violence in History.

Here are some examples they often present:

  1. The Crusades. During the Crusades (1095 until 1291), European Christians attacked and occupied the holy land. They oppressed the Muslims, the local Christians and the Jews. These Crusaders killed over 200,000 innocent civilians.
  2. Slavery. The enslaved people were Muslim, and the slave-masters were all Christian.
  3. Northern Ireland. The fighting between Catholic and Protestant Christians has cost thousands of lives.
  4. The terrible ethnic cleansing of Muslims in Bosnia and Serbia.
  5. The Crusader-Zionist alliance’s occupation of the holy sites of Islam-Saudi Arabia and Palestine.
  6. The Chechen Muslims, who were attacked by the Russian bear which embraces the Christian Orthodox faith.
  7. The crusader Australian forces who were on Indonesian shores, and in fact landed to separate East Timor, which is part of the Islamic world.
  8. Some people seem to think that Hitler and the Oklahoma City bomber were Christians.

It is hard to explain to our Muslim friends who were these So-Called Christians who fought a Christian’s war in the name of God in past or recent. For them it is hard to understand the many versions of Christianity that existed in past and even today.

How Satan succeeded in his plan to divert people from the truth of Christ and His followers who are called to be a Peacemaker a remnant of God in every eras that never fought and never retaliated.

The word of God says “Peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.” (Luke 2:14) These were the words used when angels announced the birth of the Messiah so long ago.

It is an interesting to Note that it is not only the follower of Christ who believe Jesus Christ was a peacemaker. Muslims believe he will return to earth in the end times to conquer evil and usher in a period of worldwide peace. One Muslim writer has noted Islamic sources that confirm Al Masih (Jesus) will abolish Jihad; “Sayyidina Salamah bin Nufayl has said that the messenger of Allah said, ‘The (command of) Jihad will not be abolished until the descent of Isa Ibn Maryam.’ (Seerat al-Mughlata’, Musnad Ahmad)” ( Quoted by Mufti Mohammad Shafi in ‘Signs of Qiyamah and the Arrival of the Maseeh’, p. 109)

One can see similarities between these quotes and Bible prophecies telling how the Messiah as Prince of Peace “will settle international disputes. They will hammer swords into ploughshares… Nation will no longer fight against nation nor train for war anymore…. Your king will bring peace to the nations.” (Isaiah 2:4; Zechariah 9:10).

The Ahadith mentions other Messianic prophecies such as, 1) the wolf and the lamb living together and 2) worldwide peace during Messiah’s reign (Ibid. pp. 38,78, quoting Abu Dawood and Ibn Majah, Hadith #13)

The Great expectation of every Muslim looking for Christ the Peacemaker at the end time.  But at present as a follower of Christ we have any role to draw our Muslim friends to the Peace giver before He comes.

Can Muslims be regenerated and find His peace in their lives? Yes Jesus Christ specializes in changing the hearts of even the wicked.

“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come” (II Cor. 5:17).

Christ can change some of the hardest, most evil people in the world. Even the Apostle Paul was a violent man until the living Christ met him and changed his heart!

We can make a huge difference by praying for Muslim nations and individuals in them. In fact, when fear begins to grip your mind, stop and pray for Muslims-even those who promote terrorism!! Pray for Muslims to have open hearts and for the Gospel to reach them. Ask God to raise up workers to help evangelize Muslim countries. Pray for those who are already doing this.

Then ask God to use you to befriend and evangelize the Muslims you know. Show them practical love. Be loving and humble. Don’t advocate a particular culture or political agenda. Focus on Jesus Christ and His uniqueness. Offer to study the life of Christ with them by reading through one of the Gospels. Ask God to give them spiritual understanding and to draw them to faith in Christ.

Jesus Christ is the only answer. Ask God to show you what part He wants you to have in evangelizing Muslims. Trust Him to use you to reach out to them with loving, courageous witness.

I truly admire your faith and what you believe in and God Bless You!
I do not want to be impertinent, but may I ask you if you have converted to Christianity? If such is the case, God Bless You several times=)
